    Listen to that overwhelming wall of sound at 2:59! My goodness! I've never heard those chords played so magnificently with such broad and gorgeous tone. Grumiaux is truly the aristocrat of the violin in every positive sense of the word. Refined, elegant, and my favorite Bach player bar none.

    Don't taint this perfection by even mentioning that person's name.

    I cannot get over the huge sound he gets from playing four notes all at once. Absolutely incredible!!!

    Bravo! One of the greatest Bach players. He manages to bring out both the complex polyphony and deep feelings tied within the music.

    One of the most admirable parts of his playing is the way in which he sounds like an organ player pounding on keys, just like Bach might have done. His other fugues are great as well.

    After listen to several riffraff performances of this fugue on youtube, the absolute most offensive of all played by Henryk Szeryng, I am pleased to say this: thanks for the post, good playing here. I may have to listen to more of Grumiaux's Bach.

    The quality is very nice for the time he played, but yes I would love to hear it with modern recorders...I'd love it even more to see and here it LIVE!

    @julliwong18

    It's actually a piece played by a single player.

    The player plays two or more note by attaching his bow to the strings, that are next to each others, at once.
