The Apollo program was designed to land humans on the Moon and bring them safely back to Earth. Six of the missions (Apollos 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17) achieved this goal. Lunar surface experiments included soil mechanics, meteoroids, seismic, heat flow, lunar ranging, magnetic fields and solar wind experiments.

Apollo 7 (which tested the Command Module) and Apollo 9 (testing both the Command Module and Lunar Module) were Earth orbiting missions. Apollos 8 and 10 tested various components while orbiting the Moon, and returned photography of the lunar surface. Apollo 13 did not land on the lunar surface due to a malfunction, but during the brief orbit around the Moon, the crew was able to collect photographs.

  • Thousands of pages about the Lunar Module on

  • Nice.

I've come to believe that in many cases showing how it was done is likely to be more effective in persuading the undecided than technically complicated (and dull) refutations of hoax nonsense.

  • @Boozyscientist

Yep. And I was doing the 'technically complicated' for a while Boozy, which always ended in name-calling or idiocy.

I'm going to keep this course for a longer time, planning to make some more videos.

    Thanks.

  • Thanks again, Rob. Because so much hoax debunking depends on photos from the moon, we may tend to overlook much of the pre-flight photo-documentation.

Boy, these guys sure went to a lot of effort to pull off this hoax, didn't they? (gag)

  • Always fun to watch those images from good old times, when science and exploration were properly funded, though for political reasons.

People of Apollo program achieved amazing things.

  • Nice video, I really like the engineering part. Very interesting how they managed to put everything together.

  • Karsten, please don't be put off. It is understood that it is my ignorance of your language which makes it look funny to me. No offense intended.

Of course, I know you and Rob speak the same language and since it's his video, I have no say in the matter. I was just joking around.

  • Your Americans have your culture and language, so have the Dutch.

If there is a serious discussion, well of course people must use the same language, otherwise they dont understand each other.

But if thats not the case, I prefer to use my own language and I have the freedom to do so !!

Already in the sixties, there was a tendency here to copy the American culture and I hated that.

So I defend my culture and language in those cases I can do that.

And for this, I am not sorry !

  • Well at least you have the good fortune of speaking English natively.

Not a bad thing on todays Internet at least. :)

  • Hey, Karsten, I don't speak droid!

(Crap, I'm sorry. I couldn't resist. You multi-lingual guys just don't know how that looks to someone whose only language is English.)
