  • Nice to see some comments from fellow pile trimmers.

I did notice that the pile on the video doesn't contain any spirals circulating through it.

As we in the industry know, how many times have we trimmed a pile beyond its expected trim height??

  • @Jiahcooper . Any spirals/helicals above cut-off level are the result of "bad" piling. Until piling companies drop the helical by the amount of their vertical "plus" tolerance, then , in the UK at least, they can place piles up to 175mm high and still be within their tolerances. Anything more than that will mean that the plle is out of tolerance and additional costs of breaking by hand ought to be recoverable. The only solution is knowledge and planning, sadly lacking in our industry I think.

they should have covered the length of the bar that was to be retained - then you just cut off the protruding bent piece . Or you just run a jackhammer down the outside of the bent bar to release it. Bad piling practice and an excavator driver that doesn't take care keeps you in work - I like the hard yards bit, or rather I don't - invented this method because I got tired of hanging on the end of a jackhammer.

  • I am currently researching the best solution of pile triming in the market..

As mentined by others your method have to be straight bars & without inner ring/ stiffner.

If you have cogged bars or inner ring on top portion where you want to remove then Japanese "Qui-Cutter" (Distribute by Australian company "Silentech") can be the alternative method?? Your thought??

  • lol sorry but your method fails... as i know becuase i do pile breaking as a job.

And wen they are digging the pile out to height if they bend one of the rio bars your method fails cause they cant pull the exposed pile striaght up an therefore they have to ring my company up to come do fix the job an do the hard yards
