I almost bought the reserve playback argument, but then if you notice at the same the movement of his other hand while putting the marker down is completely uninterruped when the glass starts moving.

My guess is reverse playback with a push of the class with his pinky. Nice trick!

@yefaithful It looks like it has been played backwards. If you watch when he 'picks up' the glass, his hand moves backwards slightly. Most likely he just gave it a little push.

@tonipeerwout Ha. I'm aware of stop-motion and it's clearly not that. Look at how smoothly his hand is moving at the same time as the glass - if it was stop-motion his own movements would have to be stop-motion as well and you can see that's clearly not the case.

@Mahler4EVA It's called Frame By Frame animation. You just push the glass a little further at every shot.
