On February 2, 1943 a Liberty ship that contained war materials, the Jermiah Van Rensselaer, was sunk in the mid-Atlantic by a German Submarine torpedo. Bill Holby, who is now 89 years old, was the only officer to survive the frigid waters and he tells his story here to Tom Swann of VFP Chapter 19.
