  • Most of the bad things you pointed out about the games are things I didn't notice or didn't care. Its a matter of 2 seconds when you hit unbreakable plank and understand its unbreakable. The controls were perfectly fine, i didn't struggle for a moment. The scenery is cute and well made. Even if kitchy sticky childish glowing scenario is not something you like, its not a universal fact its bad.

  • @ShaggyLunchCake Of course it isn't. Game reviews are editorial and opinion pieces. There's no way to make a game review that's an empirical fact. I just play and analyze the game as thoroughly as I can. Differences of opinion are gonna happen, and that's completely fine - because that opens things up to discussion!

  • @newchallenger

Well thats mostly what I meant. But still, Ive always seen good reviews as an opinion that tries to balance between personal taste and general common taste.

So you can see why im alittle annoyed that Nixie took down alot of score just because she couldnt handle her controls. Which is something only she experienced, if she had a more balanced opinion she would see it was only her and would be less critical.

Same about you and the unbreakable things, glowy scenario, etc.

  • @ShaggyLunchCake If I can break one plank, I should be able to break ANY plank. It's just a problem I have with the game's visual language: those unbreakable surfaces could've been made to look like ANYTHING, but they just made them more planks. It's just lazy. Re: the overly saturated design- I play these games in an office full of other people, and they all felt similarly. I gave it a 4/5- so my personal issues were stated but I gave the game an overall score I felt was balanced and thoughtful

  • I didn't have any problem with the controls on the PC, but then I'm a PC gamer who knows it's smart to own a gamepad to play platformers with.

What a disappointing review. "I didn't like it because it's not an RPG." It's not supposed to be an RPG, it's a puzzle platformer.

  • @Fredo5227 She does play PC and console even. She's just trying to be the cool, nerd chick here.

  • Downloadable 2.5D puzzle game compared to Baldurs Gate, nice one!

  • @newchallenger I have to ask.. What unbreakable planks? There are only one type of breakable planks in the game and those wizards planks. If you mean boxes then you can break the see-through ones but not the solid ones. If you mean obstacles like wooden frames/fences then you can break those too.

  • Sounds like hooker name

  • @prarpin I don't care what "established" reviews say. I don't check my notes against other outlets, and I don't base my opinions on the opinions of others. That's a big part of where actual credibility comes from.

Like I keep saying, these are not major, breaking issues. I enjoyed the game. I gave the game a 4/5. I gave the gameplay a 4/5. But it's not perfect, and I mention the things that made it less than perfect.

Also, this IS my day job. :)

  • @newchallenger

Disagreement is fine. Everybody has an opinion and that makes life wonderful. However, when you are reviewing as either a profession or a serious hobby, you loose credibility when you complain about something that established reviews do not. If you are going to just be a regular "Joe Schmoe" reviewing games then that's fine. However, do not quit your day job.

BTW, I just bought the game a few days ago. I see none of the issues you had with it.

  • A better game... The Lost Vikings... :) although i will try this too

  • Linux-gamer is like an oxymoron

  • "A problem with it being that detailed was that it felt like there was much more to do then there actually was" THATS THE POINT. They made a 2D side scroller feel like you were walking through a rich detailed 3D world. How can you call this a problem? Yous a hater. There, I said it.
