@nakamuraXmichiyo The Japanese "R" sounds a bit like a mix of "R" and "L". It's just that there are no syllables which would include the letter "L" when written in romaji (romanized Japanese). Thus they use a syllable which includes "R" instead of "L" when writing foreign words or certain names in Katakana (one of the Japanese alphabets which is mainly used for writing foreign words) because the sound is close to "L".
