Here Bhante Vimalaramsi talks about how the "Relax Step" transforms the meditators experience. This is the step almost 99% of meditation teachers do not include. Yet in the Satipatthana Sutta it says that "As the Meditator breaths in he "tranquilizes the body". This step has been left out of most Burmese or Theravadin practices even though it is talked about in the Suttas.
I don't like how this mOnk bashes the use of the old commentaries of the sutras because it's not the sutras... And then goes and tells people to study his way which is just his commentary of the sutras .. No where in the sutras does it say that craving is a tightness in the head..

Thank you :-)

@Colstonewall I agree with you there, this is also my experience and only eliminating craving truly puts an end to depression. Hope your practice is going well.

Very good explanation. . .I can also tell you from experience, anti-depressant drugs are NOT THE WAY to cure depression. They may work for you short term, but will not work long term.

Yep, I'd like to go to his retreat. It's not too far from my VA home.

Very useful method. I'd enjoy to attend one of his retreats one day.
