People in St. Petersburg discuss the possible giveaway of the public sidewalk in front of the Baywalk shopping mall. Video by Teah. http://www.youtube.com/user/willwork4justice
How many of you would be defending a line of street preachers yelling the more colorful verses of the Bible at passersby, threatening all manner of people (gays, interracial couples, etc...) with hell and damnation, and generally being a pest? Or would you direct them to Williams and Straub parks?
as a st. petersburg resident and small business owner (well, business is now closed) in downtown i believe that baywalk has the right to privatize the sidewalks. there are plenty of places to protest downtown. i don't believe that the protesters understand that there are alot of small businesses that have been hurt by their actions. like myself....my business is now closed. be heard, protest, do your thing...just please find another spot!
Wow, interesting video on human fear & behavior. Sad that people are willing to sacrifice their rights to reduce their irrational fear of protestors. Protestors are supposed to be eye sores, loud and in your face. Not hidden. I don't see how a reasonable and prudent person would feel fear of civilized protests. However I'm not from St. Petersburg so I'm not sure how rowdy the protests get or if they are really scaring off business. I feel this is more about Fear & Money than civil disturbance.
why the destorted face on one interview?does he not want to stand tall and proud for what he says?is he a person from the land of the free and the brave.
How many of you talking about constitutional issues on free speech will be there to defend my right to the second amendment to keep my guns and have them in my car in a business parking lot?
I left the St. Pete (Baywalk) area because its a rude ass city - people just have a meanness too them - plus the cops (real assholes) ... the city wants to be a haven for rich ass snobs
let people protest in the back of a parking lot? wow. it's obvious those who respect free speech are a lot smarter than those who think business is more important than the constitution!

I don't believe in the 2nd Amendment, so I won't defend your right to have a gun. Do you believe in the 1st Amendment?
