The Dropout (Part 2) / Why Teenagers Drop Out Of High School; Uses case studies to show why teenagers drop out of high school. Explains that some have problems in school, need money, are socially isolated and wish to assume an adult role. This excellent 1962 film showed reasons why teenagers dropped out, why many of the schools failed such students, and how schools could be effective in helping such youngsters. Both parts 1 & 2(which make up the complete film)should be watched for continuity. Today, many strives have been made in public education (including the GED programs, but there is still a problem of dropouts- made worse when financial shortage takes away programs and services. Filmed in Los Angeles. Writer and producer: Irving Jacoby. Director: Henwar Rodakiewicz.; Producer: Affiliated Film Producers; Creative Commons license: Public Domain

  • I'm seriously considering dropping out of high school since the past 3 years.(Now I'm a senior). Its so agonizing having to endure catty snobs and ignorant biased teachers at school. The only thing keeping me in school right now is my personal relationships with some of my teachers. But I'm considering running away, b/c I can't join the Peace Corps yet.

  • MarinaUlliel, please hang in there -- don't let your enemies make you change your goals! Get your degree and then move on with your life. Your enemies will soon be in your past. Regards...

  • I'm glad teachers are losing their jobs. Most of them are selfish pricks who do not care about those left behind anyway.

  • @doulasc I agree with you Doulasc. I went through the same non-sense and stayed back twice in my 12 grade year. Sick and tired of teachers saying that students with LDs are,"lazy," and can't learn. Most of my knowledge came from books in the library and the internet during my time in high-school. F teachers!

  • School was never meant to be, and will never be the most important thing in life, the most important thing in life is you being a good person!

  • Not only did I graduate from high school, but I graduated with a degree in physics ;I find myself in Joe's situation jobwise.Time to update this video to discussed the thousands of thousands of college graduates who find themselves in low skill jobs like myself

  • My school hates me so much. All i did was miss a few first periods and they are getting my parents involved and might expel me ==

and fuck i know ppl who barely even cme to school and they arent getting shit. fuck they hate me so much i wanna drop out but i dont wanna make me parents sad and shit

  • @Pdariean She gets a boatload of child support and tax deductions.

  • What about a GED....I think they use that as a "shortcut". I know it's what I'm going to end up doing.

  • I am a 17 year old drop out. None of my teachers cared about my well being, they never once personally pulled me aside and reached out asking me whats going on.

  • I agree, the teachers and principal are just selfish pricks. All they say is more home study, but they are of no help. Since the school board can't fire the teachers for having a failing class, I'll fired them for letting me down. I'll find someone else who can do the job better, someone who cares.

  • @MetalBassjunkie420 amen to that.

  • @visionimagify I give you thousands of thumbs up on your answer. When

kids drop out of school and if I heard the reasons how do you expect me to blame

    most of them.
