if there is anything i've learned, it's that you've just got to keep on living...whatever is going to happen will happen...don't let that strip your passions and enjoyment of the ride of life. my injury changed my life...at first, seemingly for the worse, but now i am in such a great place. i attribute my success to the nudgings i got from...well...let's just say, up above. i think your comfort and confidence will come back in time, just go with it.

i had a a c shoulder operation in aug. my main problem is head aches. anyone having the same problem

My accident was riding a bike, and now i'm really scared about riding bike again, because my accident was caused by an imprundent car driver, and I used to ride bike as a way of transportation around the city(i am living in Rio de Janeiro). And the people here drive like crazy all the time.
And for me the recovery was quite dificult, and the doctor said that i couldn't move my arm for two week, after these two week he allowed me to do little movements but very restricted.

I suffered an 5th AC dislocation, It was three months and a half ago, my surgery was three months ago and I agree with you this pain is one of the worst.
Now i'm finishing PT, and I am starting to do some exercise that doesnt require my arm.

@creamanthem Good to hear how you are progressing that's reassuring to know.It's 5 weeks since my surgery and I'm slowly able to do the PT now as 3 wks was way too soon.My injury was type 3 I believe,that's what my doctors told me as both tendons were busted.This is frustrating but patience is a virtue they say. Many thanks and well wishes to ya.

@MaxDemboNo1 - It was around 6 weeks after surgery for me before I started PT.

@creamanthem Good to hear you are on the mend and managing to do a lot of stuff. Sorry to bang on with the questions but it's nearly a month since my operation and the surgeon said not to do anything for a while to help it all stick. But the practice has just referred me to a PT and he gave me a load of light movements to do everyday.But I feel it's too early and it seems to be aggravating my shoulder.How long was it for you before you started PT? Many thanks
i am 4 mounths out of my 2nd sugery of a grade IV seperation... i just finished my PT and he told me i have to work it out 3 times a week or im gonna have problems. when i first started workin it out it felt terrible, not like i was in pain but more like it felt loose and would pop and make snaping sounds, now that i have been workin it out it feels strong (75%) but i was wondering if there was any specific exercises that you feel make a difference? and are you running a shoulder brace?any supp?

@motoXmurph8
i had one surgery with the intention on replacing my AC tendon with a cadaver tendon via a hole through my clavicle. while operating they discovered i had torn my bicep tendon also. that being said, my only "working out" in my recovery was with some rubber bands. i'm not a fan of the working out in a gym...so i just gradually over the last 1.5 years progressively gotten back into my climbing, riding and such. after about 5 weeks in the sling, i haven't worn anything for support

Hi..It's touching on a year since your operation and I was wondering if you have made a full recovery? I had same injury and had my operation last Monday..My Doctor has advised me to rest and not lift anything over 5kg for the next 3months. Be interested to know how you are doing?And also has the position of your shoulder blade different to the other. My shoulder blade (scapular) looks like it's not where it should be..Appreciate your thoughts. Best wishes

@MaxDemboNo1 - I would say, unofficially, I have made a 90% full recovery. My shoulder feels very strong again, muscle definition has become equal to that of my other arm/shoulder. Numbness is still prevalent, however slowly improving. I definitely still favor my right shoulder with confidence, as I fear re-injury, but that is slowly changing. My shoulder blade felt as though it was out of place, but no one could ever corroborate my suspicion. It is possible for it to be out of place..
