  • also there is allready communication with the mother way before the chicks are hatching,i think in the wild the mother can even give out a warning sound to the sometimes noisy hatching chicks to be silent in case of an approaching danger

  • with this particular hatchling the egg was allready cracked open all around by the chick itself, then you know it is the right time for hatching and encouragement helped thus to ensure the chick.

  • normally I would let it happen all naturally ofcause and when you think it is neccesary to help it you have to be sure it is the right time and try to encourage the chick instead of peeling it open or the chick might bleed to death or suffecate

  • ive also witnessed chicks giving up to try and break free and die at the very end, just because there was no sound or motion around, also the mother duck when they breed out their own they eat the shell up in the end even.

  • Tapping and rotating the egg encourage the chick to break free quicker. it also helps the chick because of the toughness of the shell.

Some people do it, some people dont, it is not harmful to the chick and some adult ducks produce the same motions to helping the chick break free.

  • Hes SUPPOSE TO TAP THE EGG. Its what mother ducks do. It encourages the duckling to get itself out. If you asshole weren't so uneducated, maybe you'd know that.

  • vvhat a cute!
