The prequel story traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires known as Death Dealers and their onetime slaves, the Lycans. In the Dark Ages, a young Lycan named Lucian (Sheen) emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has enslaved them. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, Sonja (Mitra), in his battle against the Death Dealer army and his struggle for Lycan freedom.

@sasi5325 Oh, I agree! I loved watching this film. I loved the whole forbidden love affair, but as well, the ramifications of the actions the characters took in the film, and how they suffered for it.

Truly tragic how Sonja's death occurred, with her pregnant and having been watched by her lover as she died, caused by her own father...something which always haunted him. You can just see elements of Romeo and Juliet here.

So strange... even "clips" bring me to tears... this film is so powerful and so moving... how can it NOT evoke such an emotional response... this is one of my favorite movies on filmsi.co.cc... so deep.... so meaningful.... I'm a guy and it made me cry even the 5'th time i watched it .... amazing and yes... very under-rated!
