there is something missing in the comment that reduced consumer spending leads to job loss. Does this mean we should spend our lives producing things we don't need or want, just so that we can be busy producing? Why do we want to be busy producing anyway? If our technology has grown more efficient, so that for example, we produce all we want in 20 man-hours per capita instead of 40, why not reduce the workweek, rather than keep coming up with artificial needs?

The anti-venom joke is really stupid. no one is telling you not to buy essential stuff, just don't buy a hummer only for going to the grocery store(actually don't buy a hummer because it's a pointless car). Don't buy 10 kg of potatoes for one meal and then throw away the other 9 kg ......

I think its good that were buying less because, that means producers have to produce better goods in order for us to leverage our cards over to buy them.
Less crap, more quality.

Too much free time, can lead to laziness and lack of motivation.. It can also lead to exploration of hobbies and that sort of thing but that requires lots of personal motivation. Something that a lot of people do not possess, instead we'd just rather spend more hours infront of TV or Computer.

Large enterprise webportals are reaching a point of enoughism.
Everytime websites like google add a new feature, fewer and fewer people take up using the new feature.
Just take google street view, google maps ,google earth and other improvements to mapping applications google have planned.
They are fun to use but just how lost are we???

Hell no. What we need is new accounting standards.
Great video. Please do a segment on why we have to pay $2 at bank atm and press another button to confirm. Happy day!
