I love how he never really stops looking at her!! This level of love is so hard to come by and their story truly is a fairytale.

Her skating is ordinary? What would she have had to do, to meet with your approval? Beat Kristi Yamaguchi in singles competitions? Win gold medals in her thirties? Elite athletes can only perform at an elite level for a few years, which is why most Olympic medalists give up skating and head for college. I would agree that some of her more recent choreographers have not displayed the extraordinary talent of Marina Zoueva -- but that's their fault. I would never say that her skating was ordinary.

I don't think Sergei was necessarily better that her, but they were much better together, than I think either one of them would be alone, as Katia's single career has kind of proved although her skating is still beautiful it is not extraordinary.

Not only a great loss to the sport--but just the thought that he never got to grow old with Katia or see Daria grow up is pretty gut wrenching. Ironic too that here's a young guy in top physical condition who was presumably doing all the right things for a healthy heart, yet it couldn't overcome genetics.

This is lovely. I loved watching them skate. It's now obvious that Sergei had all the talent since she is very ordinary since he died.

Thank you so much for making this. Gordeeva and Grinkov are the best pairs team ever. They are pure perfection. Such a loss to the sport when Sergei died. We won't see this caliber of pairs skating again in this lifetime...
