@Sheepsqueezer No, it's not. This whole "British Isles" malarkey is just a hangover from the days when the British were hanging Irishmen from gallows and claiming everything in Ireland as "British". The earliest recorded use of the term "British Isles" in the English language is by the English imperialist John Dee in 1577, while claiming Tudor ownership of the seas around Ireland. It reeks of jingoism, and I've yet to see a person use it who is not British of a very jingoistic, Europhobic bent.
