  • I've never had the need to add more charcoal to complete a cook in the 4 years that I've used had it. Really happy that I bought it! You can make a homemade replica called a UDS (Ugly Drum Smoker) which many have done. But I didn't want to go through the issue of finding a food grade drum to use as a smoker/bbq cooker. And since I had the cash, I bought one! No regrets at all!

  • @djwoody714 - There is not really a need to add more charcoal. 8-10 pounds of a good brand of charcoal/lump will provide you a long smoke of depending on the weather, 12+ hours. Plenty of time to smoke briskets or pork shoulders. Since you smoke or BBQ about 2 feet over the charcoal, cooking times are shorter. Different than cooking with an offset smoker. If needed, all I do is give a little shake of the BDS to move the charcoal around. Easy to maintain cooking temps! Great smoker!

  • Oh boy, do those ribs sure look delicious!

  • @MrMickyMouth

Yes, everything is great whenever I use my BDS!

  • er bbqing on a wood deck = dangerous

  • @BrianCRX90

The BDS is elevated off of the deck.

  • How do you turn the charcoals midway through the cooking? How do you add more?

  • @pgI0897 Same here.

  • @DaleandSpyder I see you never got a reply on this. At least not that I can see in the comments section? I am now in the same boat. Want a new pit and am weighing up between a Weber Smokey Mountain and a BDS. Did you ever buy a BDS? If so what are your thoughts? Thanks.

  • Cool video dude! I just found out about these BDS pits today and I have to say I think I`m sold! I`ve been looking for a new pit for a while now and wanted something different and this looks like it. Just curious on how you like yours. Is it easy to use and control? What size is it? I`m thinking on getting the medium but I have`nt decided yet. Are the results worth the money? Any advice or comment would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
