This style of pumpjack is used in center pivot irrigation fields to allow the irrigation rig to pass over it.

  • So this pump is still pumping oil from the well today?

I understand its in the middle of a field, but where does the oil go? Is there a tank somewhere that a truck pulls up to every few days to take the oil to be refined, or is there a pipeline to a refinery somewhere?

  • @Stmtrolleyguy Now that you mention it, there wasn't a tank nearby but the discharge has to go to one eventually to separate the water before transfer to a refinery. The oil producers have been consolidating the tanks into fewer large groups, presumably for efficiency. They can now be a mile or two away.

In the panhandle, nearly all the wells are now pipelined to a refinery while the separated water is trucked for disposal.

  • @douro20 i meant a pumping station. sorry :)

  • @reynardfoxx

A compressor? You can't compress oil!

However, you could compress gas separated from oil.

  • @oldbogus in those 2 oilfields up north they go directly to a compressor station and into a pipeline to a refinery after the heater treater. no tanks required!

  • how old is this?u bald headed old fart? i'm a bald headed young fart ripe old age of 41

  • u could just put on a two foot sub and strip it over so you arent working so low these units suck to work under.. i work on one or two a year doing work overs or pump changes cellars are usually very nasty also.

  • where would you set up the the rod table on this unit? in the cellar?
