Vinayakaram may be good at playing the ghatam, but the ghatam itself is quite limited in its tonal range and, as an instrument, is hardly a match for the tabla.

Masters of percussion? Why is there no top level mridangam player there? Why no Sivaraman? No KR Mani? no Palghat Raghu?
