Artist Constantino Brumidi fell from the dome of the U.S. Capitol while painting a mural around the rim. He died four months later.

Thank you for posting. You know I almost feel stupid for saying this but it feels cool to go places where not many have been. When working security for disney world, I traveled to the top of the castle where tinker bell comes out and fly across the park. It was cool being up there and im sure the feeling is the same if not greater being in the dome.

Very cool. My Great, great great (not sure how many) Grandfather Thomas Ustick Walter
was the architect that designed the Dome itself. As a kid I got to go down in the basement and see all his old papers that are kept there. But didn't get to go up in the dome due to restoration at the time.
