  • Great advice, Elliot. People will clearly get better results if they assume a natural squatting position. After all, functional strength is the entire point of training. Why anyone would assume a squat position other than a natural position eludes me. Many trainers also give reckless advice when they tell their clients to only go to parallel to protect the knees; actually, parallel squats transfer all the tension to the knees. Natural squats place much less tension on the knees.

  • ''You have to squat like if you were trying to take a shit''.

Those words improved my squat and I went from 155 to 245 in just 3 weeks, Elliot, you da man.

  • i can only squat low on my toes , what the deal with that?

  • @atvrider43 Yes, but only if you use heavy weights too soon before developing form.

  • @iM0nst3r Yes but you can hurt your back bad though, got to be cautious

  • @atvrider43 Squats are more practical. Squatting is some thing the human body was literally born to do. If you invest in squats instead of leg presses, you will reap a lot more benefits. Yes, leg presses will make your legs strong, but squats will help you gain a more complete strength. Compound lifts are the way to get real strength. They shit on isolation exercises. Squats will draw out your weaknesses and help you overcome them, leg presses wont.

  • Thank you for this! I was at physical therapy today (unrelated to my squat) and she laughed at the range of my squat. I said to her "if I can widen my stance and point my toes out I can get my butt past the parallel." She said that was wrong and that we will have to "work" on that. It was nice to hear that my lower body doesn't need "work" like she said.

  • 100% true.

  • can you discuss squating with flat feet

  • @atvrider43 It's a great exercise, but there's nothing like squats.
