I'm with you. London was the last leg of our European holiday and the treatment we got at Heathrow was quite appalling. While London was great, I don't think knowing what we have to endure will warrant a return visit.
The people in London are polar opposites of the scum at the airport, I just don't understand why a government would place them there as the first point of contact for visitors.
I'm tempted to point out to their "highly trained" customs/security staff that not only am I not an international terrorist or drug smuggler, but that I have been given a full security clearance by the Federal Police for my employment.
The last time I was there, sure enough the same thing happened, and knowing what to expect, I made my way to the far end of the row of customs officers where a young girl glared at me, and ordered me not to touch my bag, then proceeded to rummage through everything, maintaining an angry expression throughout. Having failed to find anything as usual, she then held my bag as high as she could, dropped it, then ran away as fast as she could.
As someone who has passed through Heathrow Airport several times, I couldn't agree more. As someone who is picked (supposedly) at random every time I catch an outbound flight there, I have come to expect that when I put my bag on the conveyor belt to be x-rayed that it will fail to appear out the other side, and a minute or so later it will appear at the far end of a row of customs officers, who then proceed to rummage through every single item in search of who knows what.
Well done Sir, its about time we put our side of the story, It has been forgotten that its our money which is being spent, yet we have a rude, poor service. The stopping of water and such like is a con to make us pay again airside.Taking shoes off is a farce. Taking our photos at departure point and keeping them on file is a big brother operation on the qt. We are not terrorists but folk whom have paidto travel. It should be handled better and with less heavy hands. Count me in. David. Carshaltn
