30 Day Challenge: Days 1-10

I'm cheating. I tried talking about them in front of a camera, and got cold feet, so I tried some alternatives. Maybe I'll do the rest, but meanwhile I don't habitually post enough to make thirty separate videos. So there you go.

•Day 01 — Your favorite song : Ray Charles "Unchain My Heart", the Magnetic Fields "California Girls", Rufus Wainwright "April Fools" (how do you like my impression)

•Day 02 — Your favorite movie : Even now when I watch "Return to Oz" there's more to see that I've never noticed before. It's drenched in beautiful detail.

•Day 03 — Your favorite television program : Dr. Who. (Now I have to learn to play the theme, for real.) The show has been going since 1963, there HAD to be something to it. Last year I Netflixed one of the Tom Baker storylines, and now I am seriously hooked. It's rather consistently captivating and delightful.

•Day 04 — Your favorite book : I had to pick something. LoTR has the things that I love in fantasy: analogies for real life. It's also a dry, honest sort of magic, stemmed from the understated powers that people and places actually do possess, though we don't acknowledge it. Not hurling lightning bolts and surreal slapstick that I associate with Harry Potter.

•Day 05 — Your favorite quote : from "Harpo's House Rules" which he relayed to his children. He was a wise man, that clown.

•Day 06 — Whatever tickles your fancy : "Goodbye Sober Day" because I couldn't manage some way to "cover" it, and that video... perfection.

•Day 07 — A photo that makes you happy : A candid shot of my parents around Christmas, which my brother's friend took.

•Day 08 — A photo that makes you angry/sad : In a non-serious sort of way, this advertising campaign sort of appals me.

•Day 09 — A photo you took : a bullet hole my roommate made in the kitchen.

•Day 10 — A photo of you taken over ten years ago: Kindergarten graduation.
