So I had something of a bummer afternoon - I had to go to the dentist for a filling. An adventurous spirit, I decided to try playing the whistle with one-half of my mouth completely numb. So, if I look a bit funny in the video, have no fear: I did not have a stroke. I just wanted to see what it would be like playing "without feeling"!

The first tune is this month's selection at www.whistlethis.com I posted a version of the Butterfly yesterday but, since they are going to be considered as set on WhistleThis, I thought to record them together.

  • I often suggest beginners use Generation Nickel-plated D tin whistles. Surely one could buy an expensive whistle, but if you're unable/unwilling to make a big investment, these $10.00 beauties are really quite fine.

  • I use iMovie's program and just add a touch of reverb. I have to edit the videos (there is construction outside of my window) and the editing process leaves the sound flat, necessitating a bit of a touch-up!

I'm glad to hear that the instructional videos are helping. If there is any way for me to improve them, please don't hesitate to make suggestions.
