Nostalgia anyone? I managed to get this working on windows 7 64bit, and wanted to give a recording a try. The graphics resolution are at 1440x1050, but was saved as 1080p for testing. The original music is also playing.

Here's some instructions as well, hopefully it works for you too!:)

The group which provided instructions of what you need to run this on win7 (even 64bit) can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/ignitiongame

Shortly speaking, you need some additional files to run the game in 3dfx mode. To do so, get the following package: http://www.freeweb.hu/dege/dgVoodoo1.40plus.zip
Copy everything to your Ignition folder, and then run the dgVoodooSetup.exe
It do contain alot of settings, but you should be good to go to the Glide tab and thenchange "Resolution" to the desired resolution you want. Using the "default" will crash the game. When you're done simply run the game through ignition_3dfx.exe and it should work.

If you don't have ignition_3dfx.exe by now (I strangely forgot how I got it) there should be a patch which provides it for you. You can find this patch at http://www.gamefront.com/files/3595740/Ignition_3Dfx_Patch

Some notes: When I downloaded the package, my scanner did not report a virus, then a couple of days ago it warned for suspicious malware. Don't worry, it is a false positive :)
Another note at the resolution is that the game will be stretched on widescreen resolutions. This is one of the reasons I didn't want to play it in 1920x1080 when I recorded it.

Hopefully you got it to work, but if you didn't, this is my current config of voodoosetup. You can try and mimic it and hopefully get everything working.

I somewhat doubt you need to setup glide, only glide2x. Don't mind the different resolutions that differ in the pictures, it shouldn't matter. As long as you /don't/ use default game settings.

Well anyways, hope you enjoy :). This is the first championship you can play (thus on novice)
This part includes the following tracks:
Moosejaw Falls
Gold Rush
Snake Island

Ignition / Bleifuss fun / Fun tracks (1997) is a game developed by UDS (Unique Development Studios) and published by Virgin Interactive. Too bad the studio shut down.

  • I can't find the "ignition_3dfx.exe" you talking about:/ The file is not in the Zip file you linked and not in the installation

  • @Choffop Hi, thanks for spotting that. I have actually no idea by now when I got the ignition_3dfx. I added a link to gamefront in the description which provides a 3dfx patch. Hopefully that works :)

  • You're lucky you got it to work, even at such a high resolution, how did you manage that? I'm trying to run it on Windows XP and it keeps crashing during the race.

  • @Veke99 Hi! Since this is the win7 64bit version, I'm not sure my tutorial would perfectly fit, but if you look at my Amateur Championship part 2, perhaps there's something there that could help you:). I should definitely put that description here as well.

  • Man I used to hate that medic guy so much.

  • @shabaddahuha It's alright, hopefully it helps you.

Yeah, well, the one I got working is from a legitimate CD (hence why you also can hear the original music). The game is labeled abandonware as far as I know, and you can find it on abandonia(dot)com for instance. There wont be any music on that one though.

  • @shabaddahuha omg i'm so sorry...i was desperate to find out how you do this and i didn't read the comments =( sorry for spam :S

  • HI! I HOPE YOU REPLY PLEASE!

Where did you get your game from? Is it from the legitimate CD? I couldn't find any these days so i searched the internet for it. I can't get it to work on 64 bit windows 7. It keeps crashing on start up. Could you please help me?
