hi! i want to install the 3.0 firmware on my iphone 2g. i used it as unlocked with my orange career, using 2.2.1. now i restored it to 2.2.1, and the iphone is not activated. by using ultrasn0w i must have the 3.0 installed. how do i do that? thanks

follow the steps in this video to upgrade to 3.0

next follow the jailbreak tutorial, which allows you to jailbreak and unlock your 2G iPhone with redsn0w

it keeps telling me "The Ipod "Ipod" could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible" any solutions? I had it jail-broken 2.2.1 and then put it back to factory 2.2.1 and and tried to restore it and it still comes up with the same error screen!

thank you thank you thank you. This was a lonngg process but it saved me the money and worked well. The only difficulty I had was finding the file after I uploaded it, make sure you click on "properties " of the file when it's on your desktop, it should have the name of the file. Then when you're browsing for the file just copy and paste the file name. Mine was 1Gtouch.zip.ipsw and I was worried that because it was a zip file it wouldn't download correctly. Anyway, thanks again
