Peshawar suicide bomb blast kills 17

The blast happened in the morning while many people were not up yet. It was heard in most parts of the city and it startled many people waking those slept and shaking the grounds to a large distance. The blast has targeted the sensitive street where security and intelligence offices are situated. This place has been targeted earlier and remains the most sensitive part of the city. Following the Waziristan operation, Peshawar city has become the main target of militants and despite all the security measures, militants seem to be having an edge over the law-enforcing agencies. And the price is paid by innocent civilians. In the latest blast, most of the casualties are reportedly those of civilians. People who used to migrate to Peshawar from other war-torn areas are now keeping away from the city and the citys own inhabitants have restricted outdoor activity like shopping and doing business too early or late in the morning. For the people of Peshawar, death can strike anytime and anywhere!

Death of a 20 year old triggers rioting in Eastern Amman

Rioting was going on and off for the last couple of days in Al-Tafayleh neighborhood in Eastern Amman. Riots were triggered by the death of a 20-year-old man who was arrested and allegedly tortured by the police after a fight the young man was involved in. The way the police are handling the issue proves that they are trying to cover u for a certain mistake, as they asked for a tribal truce, the kind of truce where money is paid for the family of the victim by the ones responsible for the incident in concern. The truce was refused by the victim's family. Such an incident will not and should not be overlooked, yet should be properly and maturely handled by all concerned sides, to save lives, and make sure justice is carried out.

Kenya Draft Constitution proposes power balance between PM and President

The proposed draft constitution scheduled for publishing this week is promising to radically alter governance in Kenya. Its no doubt that Kenyans are looking forward to a referendum next year that will mark the country's much hyped up constitutional change. The proposed new constitution will see the light of the day only if a majority of Kenyans voted in its favor than witnessed in 2005 when the then proposed constitution suffered a massive rejection. The country's constitution has been the center of politics and there is likelihood that there could be a repeat of what happened in 2005 which also determines the mood of the country as we approach the general election in 2012.
