2:44 I'm not sure what the sign reads beforehand (kanji are kinda too messy to match up), but it changes to "Kawazuya" - literally "frog-seller" - which is the pseudonym Hachi used used when he sang When Crooks Laugh. How's that for a reference?
So I figured that "Southern Research Institute" would better be known in English as Minakata Laboratory, mostly with the impetus of their YouTube channel going with that. (Also, with it made very evident that the proper romanization is "Minakata" and not "Nanpou," it doesn't actually mean "Southern" at all - I'm guessing it's a place or area.)
This is a kind of remake of two of Hachi's old non-Vocaloid songs, Aldebaran and Träumerei. Supposedly they were composed as a pair, and while one was cheerful, the other was dark. Note that Hachi has also expressed interest in remaking the old song Toy Parade. How many songs does he have planned, exactly...?
