Cave Run Lake - Zilpo Flats Musky Fishing. Justin Mullins is the boat on the lake in the distance. He and his client was fishing Big Dawg Baits in shallower water in the weeds. I didnt see them land a fish nor did I land or raise a musky, but did catch 7 bass from 3 to 6 lbs. The bass were hittn hard!

  • Yep the flats is an excellent place. Was actually there over labor day weekend but didn't have any luck, got a nice size largemouth on a 6" rapala lol. Went over to the Leatherwood dock, fishing a Chartruese Bucktail, got a 22" musky out of there.

  • The Musky are coming up into the shallows - if you fish the edges of weed beds for 10' and in, switching between spinnerbaits and bucktails, you will catch musky. The flats is nothing but weeds this time of the year as well as Leatherwood, ClayLick, Buck Creek, Scotts Creek and Caney.

  • Goto the head of the hollars and fish out. Buzzbaits in the early morning are real good ontop of the weed beds right now until the sun comes up. Regular bulldawgs are bring bigger fish up, but the best bet is to fish them all in a small area then move on, be PATIENT and fish that spot with multiple lures before hitting another target, and most definitely NO OPTION, you MUST figure 8 @ Cave Run on every cast, if not NO Fish and that is a guarantee.

  • @hazaratkhan figure 8 is a definite must. it catches alot of fish, even though there is a bit less fight. what depth of water do you think i should run a spook or other topwaters? and how deep should i run a spinnerbait? im just too used to crankbaits. normally i just bass fish and tend to catch musky.

  • that why they call twin knobs twin knobs lol

  • Highly Recommend The Flats @ the Cave all year round!
