Later on he forgot that he composed this and during his older days while playíng at a conservatory he heard someone practising this in a neighbor classroom and wordered what it was..."Who composed this piece you were playing?" "You did, sir!"

haha that is awesome!

One of the most profound and spiritual pieces of music that was ever written along with Scriabin Sonata no 2 and his piano concerto.

@pjioayncoe Somewhat sad, but also incredibly beautiful. Scriabin's mind probably moved faster than the average man - you can see lifetimes of compositional style in his work. I'm happy he was able to grow so much in his unfortunately short life.

ultimate beauty

Richter???

Removed from youtube is the 1950 Berman performance of this. You gotta hear it cuz it's the most extraordinary incredible performance . Too bad it's not here anymore. Richter here is pretty good though a bit literal for me.

Actually the anecdote went a little bit different, but the gist of it stands. It was when Scriabin's critic and admirer Sabaneyev was playing it in Scriabin's own apartment, as related in Faubion Bower's Scriabin biography.

It is ferociously difficult technically in some parts (the reprise of the 'B' melody especially) - of it's genre (though in some ways not as hard as the late Scriabin works)

you're an idiot
When is this recorded? On Trovar's Richter page the only recordings of this piece are from 1992 but this sounds as being much earlier, both sound quality and Richter's playing.

Yes, I have this on old LP. It should be late 50s.
