This is the 180 Fade Wrap:
Fly straight down as if you were setting up for a 540. You will pancake the kite next, then pull on one line.
This is a much harder pull then if you were doing a 540 and you are not doing anything with your other line.

The kite will go from the pancake to a fade, then spin 180* snagging the lines on the nose of the kite. In most cases it will want to flip right back into flying position, but a good pilot with the right kite can fly the fade nose-away, spin it around 360* in the other direction before unwrapping, or just start the JL using a 180FW. I see endless possibilities in this trick.

All of this is in the video. To see a backspin start from a nose-away fade see my Flying Wings SilverFox 2.3 UL DAY ONE video.

To do the 180 / 360 FW:
Start the 180 FW as directed above.
When the kite spins on its back to the nose away positions, then pull lightly on the line that you did NOT use to start the trick. Allowing slack right after with both lines will make sure that your kite comes completely around to the nose away positions again. Depending on wind, kite and pilot, you should be able to fly the revers fade before you pull out, or combo.

Keep looking for something new!

  • Do you have the silverfox adjusted to the turbo bridle to do these tricks? I am new to flying but have just got a silver fox UL.

    Regards nick

  • @imetbenharper I use both settings and to be honest, I can't remember how it was set in these clips. The kite tricks very well in both settings, but the turbo setting will make it seem as if the kite knows what you want to do next as it slips into the next trick.

  • Hey , nice Video . But whats who is the NAme of the Song ?

    I think ,he`s rlly good too ^^ .

  • @sixlooter lol don't even get me started on the music. I guess I was violating copyright law when I used a Disturbed song on this video. I really don't remember who did this song or the name of it. Sorry.

  • I am very new to kiting, want to play with my grandkids. I stumbled onto this video and I am fascinated.

I just bought a nice two handed kite, can I do this type of thing with a regular two handed kite, or do I need some kind of special bridal to do these things?

Where can I find out more about this fantastic type of flying???

  • @Wink1Jones

Just about any stunt kite that cost more than $50.00 Should trick just fine. Google Dodd Gross to learn more about stunt kites.

  • I just ordered my very first stunt kite, and it's not here yet. It's an HQ Bolero, cool color. I'm really interested in kiting, and I really want to be able to get into it. Any tips before I take off for the first time?

  • hey, im only new to kitting. i was wondering if there is any easier tricks to learn before getting into the harder ones?

  • Thank you! I looked up Dodd Gross and got all excited again about how much fun kites will be when Spring comes again and the snow is gone.

Went downstairs to look at my kite after watching several of his videos, discovered that the Kite I bought while at the beach in Oregon is the Detonator, one of Dodd's designs. Suddenly I am even more excited.

    Thanks again for the response.
