"AB "Vakarų laivų gamykla" was established in 1969, privatized by the Estonian BLRT Grupp Concern in 2001. In 2003 metais VLRĮ was reorganized into AB "Vakarų laivų gamykla" company group with 23 companies.
Group main activity fields ship repair and modification, ship building, stevedoring and storage services, metal construction production, metal processing, hot galvanization, transport services, procurement, etc.
All Group of companies are located within the territory of AB "Vakarų laivų gamykla". Almost 96 th. m² area of covered production spaces is outfitted within 50 ha territory.
Company has some prime priorities when competing with global ship repair, that is its geographical position and and high quality of works.
Outside its strategic activity ship building and repair, company production areas and facolities allow the production of bulky overall dimension (up to 83 t ) and high complexity metal constructions, sandblast, prime and cut steel sheets and profiles, render reloading services, transport cargo by local and international routes. After privatization Company preserved its activity profile and became competitive within European countries market, proved its ability to render services by customer requirements. Markedly grown income and the number of ships for repair and construction from the European countries support Companys ability to work under new situation. Companys quality managment system is sustained, intermediate audit of 2006 attested conformity to the requirements of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. AB "Vakarų laivų gamykla" company Group constantly invests in the implementation of renovations and modernization of up-to-date facilities. In year 2005 Company invested 11 471 th. Lt, in 2006 - 28 181 th. Lt, and in year 2007 even 49 917 th. Lt. Investments in production improved work under way quality, decreased the time of execution; at present more ships can be repaired, company successfully pursues ship construction activity further. Due to investments and innovations, Company became more attaractive to a great many ship owners. Investment, having strengthened Companys position in ship repair, conversion and new building markets, creates conditions for further development of the Company and helps to realize its main goal to make the best of it in satisfying customers requirements.
