Step back in time to 1989 to the mean streets of the Motor City - Detroit, Michigan. Watch as two identical white 1987 Mustang GT's square off late at night at Plymouth Road and Outer Drive. We're in the first Mustang and in the other Mustang is Motor City street racing legend, the late "Uncle" Norm Ruby. Uncle Norm was one of the original founding members of Detroit's legendary "Top End Club". Uncle Norm was notorious for going on "2 1/2" of the "three count" and these races were no exception. Uncle Norm passed away a year or so after this video was shot and many, many stories of great street races here in the mecca of high performance - Detroit - went to the grave with him. This video is dedicated to the memory of Norm Ruby. Rest in peace my friend.

  • Wow, back in the day 5.0 style. There was a period of time back then when every car at street night at the dragstrip was a 5.0 or a turbo Buick. In the time between 60's muscle becoming rare and valuable (mid 80's) and the rise of the LT1 F bodies and imports (mid 90's), most dragstrips owed their livelihood to 5.0's and Buicks for keeping the gates open.

  • Man, I have the same memories of that era!

  • @brace06 Yea i understand, starting on a car is hard, first part is "Where the hell do we start?!" I bought mine for 4k and my dad agreed to help me restore it. Put a little over 6k into it and it's like new. Bought it in november, got started on it the next day, went to the paint/body shop in late december to fix major rust/ body imperfection and for paint then we put her all back together and installed new interior, The body shop tries to take all your money, especially to reweld for rust.

  • @The92foxbody We still have the 66 its the same story as yours my dad bought it to be a project for us but we just havent had the time or money.
