@AdmiralSnider A very good question (and challenge), indeed! Arguably Arrau and Bolet were the only two coming close to it ...

"...and which few can equal." Who exactly?

:-)))) oh mey...

@willweeverknow i am pretty sure the whole thing was filmed. this was used as a sort of introduction to a televised performance of ABM playing the Ravel concerto with sergiu celibidache around 1980 i am guessing. you can find the whole intro by googling it. it's about 5-6 minutes long but this is the only part where they actually show him playing. still interesting nonetheless.

Hi Brian! Do you know if there is the entire video of this very recording? ...thanks for your detailed information!
-
looks like it's soooo easy to play! *sigh* too bad it's only an excerpt - I'm sure they (?) have recorded the entire piece.

I noticed that one guy below (hocapito08) said "He seems older than the vids in 1949"...actually ABM was almost 40 when the video of the Chaccone was taken. While the doc is even more "recent" (1968).

i feel like punching the commentator in the huevos rancheros
This in NOT the video of the 1948 EMI recording. This video is dating at least 10 years later!
Nobody will never ever play the Ciaccona like him!!
