The largest urban bat colony in North America lives right underneath the Congress Avenue Bridge in Austin, TX. During the summer, about 1.5 million Mexican Free-tailed bats emerge from underneath the bridge to feast on the city's insect population. It is an eerie sight.

  • went there yesterday and was unable to see them a few came out on the other end of the bridge from where I was standing but I was not able to see them I was bummed

  • I was there back in 2001 to see the bats come out . Its was cool to see it in person
