was this video made before the Good the Bad & the Ugly, Once Upon A time In the West, A Fistful Of Dollars and For A Few Dollars More?

I like how everyone's giving this guy crap over HIS top ten westerns. Does it say YOUR top ten up there? No, it doesn't. Now show some respect for the guy, he's just sharing his favorites. Just because he doesn't like some that many know about, doesn't mean you can start giving him shit about his opinion. These are his favorites, show respect.

@halbie71 well they were made in the 60's so i doubt the main fans will be young. Plus the good the bad and the ugly and once upon a time in the west are alongside the Searchers and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid widely considered the best westerns ever made.

@MikeEsex I couldn't agree with you more, Mike. Well said!
This is a interesting list, halbie71. Every title in your top 5 would make my personal list. While the Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns were terrifically entertaining in their own way, they would not make my list either. In many respects, and for better or worse, the "Leone's" were anti-westerns, and represented the beginning-of-the-end of the iconic Westerns that dominated American culture for the first half of the last century.

You have to add: 'The Horse Soldiers' (1959) and another John Ford masterpiece, as well
'Stagecoach' (1939), plus 'Lonely Are the Brave' (1962), and the original versions of
'3:10 to Yuma' and 'Gunfight at th OK Corral' And I agree, 'High Noon' should be on the list, too.
The music for the Good Bad Ugly was dope. But that movie is waaaaaaaay to long and everyone knows it. Ditto for Once Upon. The Unforgiven was, to me, the perfect blend of classic cinema and 90s film making and the culmination of a genre. I don't feel out of line calling it a much better film than The Searchers because it is. And Ridley's Scotts 'Gladiator' blows 'Spartacus' away. Both great films. Kubrick is probably the greatest director ever. But Gladiator was a much better film.

Is it considered "not cool" to put 'The Unforgiven' on these lists. Personally, I think it is hands down, the best Western ever made. It is an absolutely flawless film. It is visually stunning, engaging, and has some of the best dialogue of any film of any genre. And it doesn't suffer from some of the shortcoming of old school Westerns. The Searchers was amazing but it was boring at parts. People don't like to admit that. Same thing can be said about Liberty Valence. And the music was CHEESEY!
