Latest update on 7/26/2011. Line 6 customer service is bungling my case. I've called in twice previously to get a prepaid shipping label issued to me via email, which line 6 promises will be in my email "by the end of the day". Both times, no email...I'm currently on hold on my 3rd call to try and get this resolved. I've wasted 60 minutes of my life trying to get this return handled. NOT GOOD!

I just changed strings and was warming up with the intention of doing a video praising the Variax JTV59 when it starting f'ing up on me. Out of the blue the models started switching on their own. This has been a common problem with these guitars that Line 6 said had been fixed. This is not one of the "old" batches that originally had the problems...this is from the latest shipment from Line 6 with the new switches. I received this guitar direct from Line 6 on 7/7/2011. Worked great...for 9 days.

I have never dissed a product, but AVOID JTV59's. They still have problems.

Just spoke with Line 6 and it has to go back...GRRR! Super friendly and helpful customer service at Line 6 but it sucks having to send the guitar back. I get the impression on the phone I'm not the only one having problems and having to send back the "new" 59's.

  • How come I didn't see this video before? I was of the switches issues and reviews mentrioned that it's been resolved. So I ordered this last Dec. Damn, my JTV 59 will arrive next week... :-( I hope that I wont have any problem with the guitar.... I had the Variax 700 and I never had problem with the guitar. BUt this new one worries me :-(

  • @vincentcostales Hope it is ok for you. I had mine repaired and it is working fine now.

  • Did you get this fixed yet? I hope so. If not hit me up at richrenken@line6.com. I will be sure you get helped. It has to do with flux on our new switches we had designed and replaced on these guitars. After you play a while, the little bit of heat causes this.

  • @richrenken I did get it repaired and so far so good. thanks for the heads up rich.

  • I've had a JTV 59 Black (Korean) for 3 days now and it started having switch problems this morning. It isn't randomly switching like your problem, but the 3 way switch is not responding to changes with modeled guitars. It works fine most of the time when using the magnetic pickups but there are sometimes even that fails. I'm gonna be calling Line 6 tomorrow to get my options *insert sad face here*

  • @ShineOnThrough yeah...pretty crappy that this is still going on. Line 6 is seriously screwing up the handling of my return. I'm on my 3rd call to them to get a shipping label emailed to me...pretty poor process if a customer has to call repeatedly to get a problem handled. Pretty disappointing experience all around.

  • @99voltsdotcom Thanks.I have received mine. It's been with me for approximately 2 weeks already.the guitar looks pretty nice. so far, the guitar plays well though I had a lil' problem with the intotation when I received it but it's better after I set the bridge. It has new set of strings as well when I received it, so the tuning doesn't hold very well... I will see if the tuning will hold after the strings worn a little bit. I'm watching the switch carefully as weell :-) It feels a little fragile

  • Oh no! I have the JTV59 too! I hope, I won't get this switching issue. I bought my JTV in June 2011. It is a shame Line6 haven't sorted this out yet... they are aware of these problems for quite a while now...

  • @STEELE9999 Thanks. I spoke with their customer service yesterday and they gave me a prepaid RA ups label...great customer service help @ line 6. I actually referred their rep to this video so he could hear what was going on. He asked how to search for it and I said use the term "JTV59 fail"...that was kinda' funny. I'm just disappointed that this is still going on after all the problems they have had it still is not fixed.

  • Hang in there. I got my JTV59 in January and had the switching problem. Line 6 paid to have it shipped back to them for the repair and it has been working fine ever since.
