Breathtaking.

@ScottONanski What is this the fucking Matrix?
-
@CyanideSovereign I know kung-fu... ;)

@ScottONanski " You're a powerful and attractive human being. I love you. "
That's a great way to through anyone of balance, the ultimate internet-argument winner. I'll be sure to plagiarise it, thank you stranger!

Anyone who plays guitar to a reasonable degree can hear the Vai influence in Devin's playing. His use of modes and his phrasing is very, very similar. That being said, I prefer to listen to Devy that Vai...

Another thing I love about devin townsend, almost all his videos are completely void of arguing trolls, instead theres intelligent people saying nice things about music
I hope I meet a lot of cool people when I see him next month! :D

I was speaking of the technical proficiency of the work he did. I've yet to hear anything like it from him - with the exception of certain passage of specific songs.
The influence of Vai is totally there. You would have to NOT be a musician to not notice it - the tone, distortion and wah of the solo for this song evidences that.
Either way, he's still totally rad, and your taste is music is sublime. You're a powerful and attractive human being. I love you.

@ScottONanski He hated those years because it was soulless work, doing what others wanted of him. It was that anger that fueled early Strapping Young Lad, which is some pretty angry music. I hear no influence from Vai and don't believe its anything close to his best work.
But to each his own I suppose.
One of my favorite songs by him. Extremely beautiful...and the guitar in this song is fucking AMAZINGLY emotional and great. I love it.

Truly Devin Townsendish. So many feelings in such little words, such "simple" music.
Hurray for diversity.
