I can't trust my local city government. I don't know why people think a world government will solve anything! What a joke. I've come to the conclusion that the more local the government, the better, and the most local government is self-government by the individual.
I agree, different governments of the world create competition for other governments of the world. Take us here in the US. At one time the world looked up to us and demanded their governments be like us. Also, what if this global government is influenced by special interests. It happens here, now. Why wouldn't happen at a global level? I do believe in a world government, but not now, not for at least 500 hundred years. We need more time to grow as a species.

Of course, when Democrats started supporting civil rights legislation and desegregation after WWII, a lot of Southern Democrats (like Wilson was in his time) switched to the GOP. Take Strom Thurmond as an example. Nixon's "Southern Strategy" is a classic historical example of how the political field shifted in the 60s.
