@Rubeosky - I don't understand why Johnny O'Mara was running the #3. He was the defending champion, having won the SX title in 1984.
Odd. Then again, that might have been that oddball title since Jim "Hollywood" Holley won the "World SX" Title by virtue of being one of the few guys to contest all the international rounds.
i was here that night, don't remember much, they had a suzuki quad premere race too. Great to see this stuff, my college days in the 80's out in So. Cal are fading a little, they were fuzzy a few nights back then too! ;)
Nice vid. I don't even think this was a round of the SX series, but it was epic nonetheless. But you missed RJ with his surfer shorts over his racing pants calling out all the sand baggers, Gordon Ward putting the wood to Davey Strijbos in the LCQ, and Jason Upshaw doing a complete flip at the bottom of the peristyle. Anyways, ur vids are cool and much appreciated!
That's the Rodil cup race. First and second place riders in the heats were supposed to start on the back row of a two row start. Ward,O'mara and others sand bagged in their heat races so they could start up on the front row. Ward pulled behind a concrete pillar on top of the peristyle and let others pass, then rolled out to finish third in his heat, giving him a front row start. Chump.
This announcer also did the 1986 Anaheim SX. He SUCKS!!!! At 44 seconds he says " a comfortable 1 second lead"! lol comon. At 3:20 he says "the 50,000" fans..... lol look at the stands, there might be 20,000.
