looking at this routine compared to the modern day ones she would probably be like a level 7. i hate how gymnastics just gets harder and harder. she did awesome.

This is her compulsory routine, it was designed to have easier elements that all the gymnasts would be able to perform. Her optional routine was much harder.

@PhillyGal4Ever I so agree with you. Retton always seemed like she was trying to impress everyone rather than just let it flow naturally. Szabo is just so natural about it. Love it.

every single compulsory routine posted here has some comment how easy this is! it's compulsory! it's supposed to be easy!

No-Retton's compulsory FX was NOT the equal to this routine but we will have to differ on that point. No one-Least of all Retton-could hold a candle to te Soviet's compulsories-especially Mostepanova who would have CRUSHED Retton in this portion of the competition. Who said Szabo was the equal of the Soviets anyway??

Rettons compulsory Fx was equal to this routine and Retton should of received a 10. Szabos routine does not holed a candle to Soviets compulsories of 83 worlds
