  • I think a healthy self-esteem is the most important. if they want to be obese and are proud of it, then it's their right to do so. It's not exactly my problem if OTHER PEOPLE get cardiac arrest at 42. I'm more concerned about parental negligence than anything else.

  • In other countries, people are probably more willing to get out because everyone gets out in countries where they are required to walk everywhere. In the U.S. everyone regardless of weight will refuse to walk anywhere unless they live in the city.

  • i am a vegetarian and do not sit around and eat junk food all day and i exercise like hell and im considered obese because of my BMI so what exactly should i do if you so smart

  • That only goes so far because there are other medical conditions and medicines for mental health that make people obese and that is something they cannot change with just diet and excercise. Secondly Fat doesn't necessarily mean unhealthy. BMI doesn't take into consderation muscle mass and bone mass. Someone could be big boned and be ripped and still show up as obese.

  • You can't buy willpower, there's nothing quick and easy about it.

  • Ignorance and bigotry are negative traits, so following your logic, society shouldn't accept you either.

  • 'obese people are portrayed eating junk food' well durr thats all they ever do, if they didn't they wouldn't be that fat. OBESEITY IS A NEGATIVE THING. WE SHOULD NOT ACCEPT THESE PEOPLE.

  • food is a substance, alcohol is a substance, tobacco is a substance,... why do we accept cigarettes as an addiction, why do we accept alcoholism as an addiction & mental health issue, yet sugar, salts, and other food products are ignored & blame is shifted to the person? im convinced that alcoholism is a byproduct of deeper issues therefore i can not ignore the possibility that obesity is a by product as well.

  • No shit they are portrayed in a negative manner, because obesity IS negative! The last thing this country needs is everyone saying " hey it's ok to be obese, in fact we will accommodate you with larger everything including larger wheelchairs and hospital beds when your lack of self respect and discipline puts you in the doctors office!"

  • IS FOOD OUR NEXT TABACCO??????
