The best golden age movie scores (personal list). At the second movie there is a little mistake. I discovered it after saving the movie. Sorry. This is my first video.
Just trying to acquaint myself with classic music scores, and also the movies themselves... Seems like this Max Steiner guy was to movie soundtracks then, as John Williams is to movie soundtracks now. He did almost everything notable.
@DOMuricu I would have put all 3 of the Korngold scores higher, and included more Elmer Bernstein (I might have eliminated the 60s scores as not strictly speaking being from the "Golden Age", great as they are), but all of these are undeniably great.
It's not very difficult to see, (after listening to this selection,) why Max Steiner has been termed "the father of film music" by some. It's really hard to choose though between such fabulous talent.
I realise it's extremely hard to pick just 20 scores from that period and everyone's personal lists would vary a bit....I still think Korngold's Robin Hood should be higher (can't believe it was only 11th on the AFI list) and both Newman and B.H. should have had two each...but then who do you leave out? Like I said it's a really hard job to choose only 20. Thanks for posting this. Nice to see so many YouTube videos covering film music from the Golden Age.

Fantastic. The only one I think is missing is Vertigo, but it's still a very accurate list!
