Rusty was a 1990s Canadian alternative rock band formed in Nova Scotia.
Following the breakup of One Free Fall, former members of the band and Doughboys members Scott McCullough (guitar) and Mitch Perkins (drums) got together to record the EP Wake Me in 1994. The video became a minor hit on Much Music. Released on Handsome Boy Records, the EP was popular on Canadian campus radio, leading to a major label distribution deal with BMG Records for their full length album Fluke in 1995 having the hit single "Misogyny featuring clips from Canadian filmmaker Bruce LaBruce's film Hustler White. Fluke was the band's commercial breakthrough, also spawning the singles "Wake Me", "Groovy Dead" and "California" earning a Juno Award nomination for Best Alternative Album. In 1996, the band contributed a cover of "Let's Break Robert Out of Jail" to the compilation album A Tribute to Hard Core Logo. In 1996 "Punk" was included on the soundtrack to Chris Farley's movie "Black Sheep".

The band's followup album, Sophomoric, was released in 1997 including the singles "Empty Cell" and "Oh No Joe". Perkins left the band that year owing to creative differences and released an electronic album independently with Andrew Massey under the name "Blu Pernu" and was replaced in rusty by John Lalley.

In 1998, Rusty released Out of Their Heads. The album was a commercial disappointment and the band subsequently broke up, playing their final show on November 25, 2000.

This video apparently features Floria Sigismondi and Danko Jones, Floria is a well-known vsual artist and Danko Jones, a guitarest having a self-named trio that has been active since 1996.

  • I posted what is likely to be 4 other vids by rusty (if memory serves), check my Youtube page.

  • This is one of the most viewed videos I've posted and I suspect that it has the same appeal to males as the name of a BC band She Stole My Beer. Women wrapping men around their fingers prior to throwing them to the curb appears to be equally common as the converse theme of men stealing something women believe similarly precious except another word replaces "Beer" and genders are reversed. The video's femme fatale was played by video director Floria Sigismondi. Equal rights rears its ugly head.
