It was smart. It kept everything consistent with the established MARVEL cinematic universe, it had really interesting and well fleshed out characters, and compared to your everyday action movie like say Battleship, yes it was a smart action movie. You can watch the Avengers for a fun, (had a bit of emotion), comic book movie. And you can watch Nolan's trilogy for the Darker, more emotional set of movies. Why is everything a competition? By the way this video is really silly and not very funny

The Avengers wasn't trying to be deep and emotional. It was a smart, fun, action movie with moments of comedy and occasional bits of emotion. So stop saying it's bad because it's not deep enough. That's like saying it's bad because it has no musical numbers in it; it's not trying to be a musical.
