Me playing "To Defy the Laws of Tradition" by Primus. The bass is an Ernie Ball MusicMan Bongo 5-string dual-humbucker (no piezo) bass. Recorded by running my pedal board through a cheap NADY TMP-2 tube mic preamp and into my PC's line-in jack.

  • That stretch looks painful

  • @carlos15agg - Nope, it's not.

  • do you need some kind of jazz bass for this song? I use a P-bass and it doesn't pick up the taps well xD

  • @wesman2232 Obviously not, since I'm not playing a jazz bass.

  • I saw that in the beginning what effect do u use to get that cool sound I have always wondered?

  • It's a SansAmp DI fed through a DigiTech guitar chorus/flanger pedal.

  • @wesman2232 P bass overall arent good for slap or tap really, well there good for slap SOMETIMES i like to slap my P , but never tap it imo x D but picking sounds the BEST on a p bass imo

  • nice....real nice.

  • Thanks. Claypool has it easy because he always plays this on his 4-string short-scale bass, which has frets that are slightly closer together.

  • spot on the mark. wicked. wish i could play like that.
