  • Rocky, I tried this with Wild Rice. I did use the stuff I had. Used about 1/4 cup Soy milk, tea spoon of sunflower seeds, sliced almonds, 6 sultana, honey and frozen raspberry. I bought this rice few months ago from a ethnic shop & it was in a plastic bag without any cooking instructions.

I soaked the rice overnight & then just followed your instructions.

It came out really well, and the rice is different to brown rice because it had a nutty texture.

  • I will have to try this i love cream of wheat but this sound yummy

  • I just made this and I LOVE IT! I like it better than steel cut oats, less chewy. THANKS Rocky!!

  • nice idea, but if you want to make a healthy breakfast you might as well go all out and use no sugar, or organic raw honey instead. or maybe puree some frozen mixed berries with some soaked dates and mix that in for sweetness. you could also sprout the quinoa instead and mix in you own homemade nut milk which is actually really easy to make, It sounds complicated but its really not that much more time consuming that doing it this way :) also i think some vanilla and cardamom would be nice

  • @BLUESTAR1000ROX Yes. Quinoa is a seed, not a grain.

  • I heard Quinoa is actually a seed. Is that true? I tried sprouting mine and it was great. I added it to my kale salad. Yum.

  • Quinoa is a wonderful source of protein - I'm glad it is more readily available now than it used to be.

  • Shoot... forgot to mention... I use chicken or vegetable broth instead of water when I cook the quinoa... you get so much more flavor out of it that way!
