For the first time in more than a generation, many of Kabul, Afghanistan's 4 million people are enjoying the benefits of electricity. In January 2009, power began to flow into Kabul along an ADB-funded transmission line running from neighboring Uzbekistan. Bringing electricity to the people of Afghanistan is a key component of ADBs strategy to support the country's reconstruction and development.
