Try the album In Absentia (listen to the tracks "Trains" and ".3" in particular) and then move on to Deadwing and Fear of a Blank Planet. Those are their most accessible albums.

Eventually you can move back to the "Floydian" era of PT and listen to abums like Up the Downstair and The Sky Moves Sideways, which are slightly harder to digest.

Oh hey, I actually do listen to Ozric Tentacles. The song Kick Muck is what got me into them.

There's an Argentine prog-rock band named Nexus that also has an album called Metanoia. They have an AMAZING female vocalist. The problem is that their albums are really hard to find, and they only have a couple songs on Youtube.
