This is 37294's second start up,now firing on all 12 cylinders after it was discovered parts had been removed from A3 cylinder when in store and yet all the covers had been put back on and tightened up ???? why this was done we have yet to fathom out,the puffs of black smoke you see from the right hand exhaust now and again a caused buy pressing the cylinder injection pump plunger to confirm the cylinder is firing properly,A3 is still not firing properly until it gets warm so needs investigating again, its could be a sticking valve

  • The timing was indeed retarded on "A" bank, having checked it I found it to be out by exactly 1 tooth !!!!!!!!,she has now been re-timed and the cam chain re-tensioned,will post another video of her new and improved startup once ive put the water pump back on after overhauling the mechanical seal,

  • running a tad rich?? lol

  • @mrfirewolf Indeed she is,I think the injection timing is a little retarded on A bank,B bank is running spot on as you can see,as after a few minutes its running quite clean, the problem with these engines is that they have a cam chain that after a period due to its shear lengh can stretch and alter the timing, always seeming to effect A bank probably due to engine direction rotation

  • at 1:00 lol

  • I am new to this obsession - can you tell me why these engines hunt when cold? It sounds great, but just curious. Any more info on the new post of the better start up? Id love to see it!

  • @Aerozine50 Oooooo,Casy R,now there's an idea,takes me back to my Yamaha FS1E back in the day,you cant beat a bit of clag,lol

  • Excellent stuff. Can't beat a Tractor.

  • Explosion that train!!!

  • i grew up with those locos in lanarkshire

  • Get a bigger hammer!

  • When I was doing my Diesel theory at college, we were always told that white smoke was a sign of injection pump problems (automotive diesels). But as the other bank is okay, I assume that there is another problem here. Nice sound though guys - thanks for posting.
